KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Patrick Mahomes has been named the 2018 Most Valuable Player at NFL Honors in Atlanta Saturday night.
He is the first Chiefs player to win the title while with the team. Former Chiefs Joe Montana (1989, 1990), Marcus Allen (1985) and Rich Gannon (2002) won it with other franchises.
Mahomes also became the first NFL MVP drafted by the Chiefs, and the first NFL MVP for Andy Reid while he has been a head coach. Brett Favre won it in 1997 when Reid was his quarterback coach.
Earlier in the day, Mahomes also claimed the titles of Offensive Player of the Year and FedEx Air & Ground NFL Player of the Year.
In an incredible first starting season, Mahomes threw for 50 touchdowns and 5,079 yards. The only two quarterbacks to have held stats like that are New England's Tom Brady, and Peyton Manning.
