KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City, Missouri, police and the Kansas City Chiefs confirmed Sunday that the fan who pointed a laser pointer at New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady during the AFC Championship Game has been identified.
Video shot by 41 Action News appears to show a green laser pointed toward Brady’s head and shoulders during the game on Jan. 20 at Arrowhead Stadium.
Laser pointers are banned at NFL games, but it’s an issue that has cropped up in the past, including during a 2016 game in Mexico City.
Adam Schefter of ESPN was the first to report the fan had been identified.
A Chiefs spokesman said the individual is not a season ticket member and has been banned from future events at Arrowhead Stadium.
No arrest has been made in the case, according to a KCPD spokesman, and no charges have been filed.
“We are still working with prosecutors on this case,” KCPD Sgt. Jake Becchina told 41 Action News in an email.
