KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Among all of the Kansas City Chiefs fans in Hard Rock Stadium on Sunday night, one person in the stands never doubted Patrick Mahomes’ ability to lead the team to yet another postseason comeback.
Mahomes' father, Pat Mahomes, told 41 Action News anchor Kevin Holmes after the game that despite two interceptions in the second half, he knew his son would keep playing until the very end.

“He made a couple mistakes, but I knew that he was gonna keep on going until the clock ran out,” the senior Mahomes, a former Major League Baseball pitcher, said from the field in Miami.
The proud father said he knows Mahomes will keep working to bring another Super Bowl victory home to Kansas City.
“It’s like he’s doing right now. You gotta maximize every day,” Pat Mahomes said. “Every day you come out and you try to be better. That’s what I’ve stressed with him since day one, since he decided he wanted to be an athlete.”
But for right now, father and son will be celebrating the Super Bowl MVP’s first championship. Pat Mahomes said he will be in Kansas City on Wednesday for the Chiefs Kingdom Champions Parade.
“I wouldn’t miss it for the world,” he said. "I’m ready to be there and see Kansas City celebrate."
