KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Chiefs are welcoming back a big piece of their defense in time for an important divisional showdown.
Kansas City cornerback Bashaud Breeland rejoined the team this week after serving a four-game suspension following an offseason arrest.

"You don't have to let your mistakes define you," the Chiefs corner told the media via zoom on Friday.
Shorthanded in the defensive backs unit, young players were asked to play big minutes in the absence of the former Clemson standout.
"It was a bittersweet moment," he added, referring to watching the team run the table to open the 2020 season. "I was disappointed in myself for letting my team be there without me."
Breeland said he spent his time away from the field getting stronger physically and mentally, along with picking up new hobbies. He started 15 of 16 games for Kansas City en route to a Super Bowl LIV championship in 2019.

Reid wouldn't commit to handing Breeland his starting role back in time for Sunday's matchup against Las Vegas, but said the defensive back looked "sharp" since his return to the team.
