KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Raymore-Peculiar senior quarterback Conrad Hawley is the 2020 Thomas A. Simone memorial Football Award winner.

Presented annually to the most outstanding high school football player in the Kansas City area, the Simone Award started in 1983 as a tribute to the late Tommy A. Simone, who died at age 12.

Hawley, who threw for 2,722 yards and 25 touchdowns in helping the Panthers win the 2020 Missouri Class 6 state championship, is the second player in Ray-Pec football history to win the honor.

Former NFL and Mizzou All-American tight end Chase Coffman also won the award in 2004.

The 2019 Simone Award winner, former Olathe North quarterback Arland Bruce IV, transferred to Ankeny, Iowa, before the 2020 football season.

Without Bruce eligible to become only the second two-time winner in Simone Award history, Hawley waltzed into Kansas City high school lore.

He added two rushing touchdowns last season, leading the Panthers to a 12-2 record overall.

With the COVID-19 pandemic continuing to alter our daily lives, 41 Action News has partnered with the Thomas A. Simone Awards this year to honor the top high school football players in the Kansas City area, a tradition that began in 1983.
