KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A report from NFL Network's Ian Rapoport says the Chiefs have trade talks centered on pass rusher Justin Houston.
Houston's salary cap number for 2019 is over $21 million. The Chiefs would have to eat over $7 million in dead money if they did move Houston. But with the club likely to franchise tag Houston's counterpart Dee Ford on the other side, a Houston trade would be a cost-cutting move.
The eight-year pro has spent his entire career with the Chiefs. Houston had a career-high 22 sacks in 2014. He came up just shy of double-digits this season with 9 in 12 games.
Houston is 30-years-old and has missed 21 games over the last four years.
