KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City Chiefs rookie running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire could be out for the remainder of the regular season, according to a report.
NFL Network host Ian Rapoport tweeted about the possibility early Monday, saying there’s a chance Edwards-Helaire will return for the playoffs.
Edwards-Helaire left the field Sunday in the fourth quarter of the team’s matchup against the New Orleans Saints after suffering what Rapoport said was a hip and ankle injury.
Rapoport reported later Monday that further testing confirmed CEH’s hip and ankle injuries.
A source told Rapoport that Edwards-Helaire will “have a shot” at the playoffs depending on rehabilitation.
Reid told reporters after the game that CEH’s X-rays came back negative, but didn’t have further updates to share at his regularly-scheduled Monday news conference.
Edwards-Helaire seemed optimistic Sunday night, writing on Twitter that he was grateful for prayers.
Monday morning, he updated his feed, writing that he was “still hurting” and “my super powers failed me.”
The Chiefs ultimately took the victory in New Orleans, defeating the Saints 32-29.
