KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Women’s soccer could be making a return to Kansas City, Missouri.
The Athletic reported Saturday night that Utah Royals FC are set to relocate to KCMO, pending final approval, according to multiple sources.
The National Women’s Soccer League team was previously known as FC Kansas City before disbanding in 2017. An ownership change took the team to Utah at that time.
FCKC was one of the founding teams of the NWSL and two-time NWSL champions (2014, 2015).
When contacted by 41 Action News, a spokesperson for the Utah Royals said they could not comment “on anything regarding the sale of any part of the Utah Soccer LLC.”
