ORIGINAL STORY, Jan. 24 | The Kansas City Chiefs are heading back to the Super Bowl, but several players suffered injuries on the path getting there.
Chiefs tackle Eric Fisher left the game late in the fourth quarter with an ankle injury. The team later said Fisher had suffered an Achilles injury.
In a post game news conference, head coach Andy Reid told reporters Fisher’s injury “doesn’t look good,” and that the early indications are that Fisher tore his Achilles.
Chiefs defensive backs L’Jarius Sneed and Armani Watts also left the game in the second half. The team said both had entered the concussion protocol.
One week after entering the concussion protocol, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes returned to action, though a turf toe injury remained a concern.
Reid said Mahomes’ toe was black and blue after the Divisional Round game against the Cleveland Browns. Reid praised the team’s training staff for getting Mahomes back in action.
