KANSAS CITY, Mo. — If there's one thing the Kansas City Chiefs needed to work on this season, it was patience according to Chiefs' tight-end Travis Kelce.

In an interview with Shannon Sharpe on his podcast, Club Shay Shay, Kelce said the team had to remind itself that the regular season comes before the post season.

“I fell like coming into it, all you can think about is, is the playoffs all over again," Kelce said. "Alright, yeah, we’re going to make the playoffs, mentally, you say that to yourself, we’re going to make the playoffs. We have a great group."

"We have Patrick Mahomes, the best player in the National Football League leading, we’re going to make the playoffs," Kelce said. "Mentally, being able to lock in every single week so that, that dream, that situation happens. That’s been the hardest thing."

In the same interview, Kelce said its the Chiefs leadership that's helped the team get back to another NFL playoffs.

“When you have guys like that, every single day that love to come into work, love what they do, enjoy the process of getting better at football, enjoy the competitiveness and don’t get complacent with that, that’s special and when you know you have that, it just turns it up even more," Kelce said.

The reigning champions are eager to get back on the big stage. As they look to "run it back," the team will have practice that patience this weekend to find out who they will play in the divisional round.
