KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Normally, a Chiefs victory means a dog at KC Pet Project gets their adoption fees waived in order to find a new home.

Despite the devastating loss during the Super Bowl, the shelter will still get to celebrate the football season.

Normally, Chiefs player Derek Nnadi sponsors one dog per victory for adoption. A total of 16 dogs were sponsored during this season thanks to the Chiefs' winning streak.

Last year, when the Chiefs won the Super Bowl, every dog in the shelter at the time was sponsored for adoption.

This year, that will still happen.

ZIWI, a pet food company that works with the Derek Nnadi Foundation to get dogs home, will sponsor every dog that was in the shelter as of Feb. 7.

All eligible dogs can be viewed online and will go home with a pet pack from the company like the other Nnadi dogs normally do.

So, even though the Chiefs may have lost, some Kansas City dogs are still winners.
