KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The week leading up to the Super Bowl routinely features a crop of story lines, but one story line has generated quite the buzz this year.

On Monday, two Kansas City Chiefs - wide receiver Demarcus Robinson and center Daniel Kilgore - were placed on the COVID-19/Reserve list after brushing into contact with a COVID-19 positive person.

Additional reporting Tuesday by NFL.com reporter Tom Pelissero identified the close contact as a barber providing haircuts to the team prior to the Super Bowl.

On Wednesday, ESPN NFL writer Adam Schefter tweeted that it wasn’t just Robinson and Kilgore who were set to receive a trim.

Schefter reported that as many as 20 Chiefs - including QB Patrick Mahomes - were set to get a haircut from the barber.

Once the team found out, Schefter said the team pulled the barber part way through a haircut.

As of Wednesday, neither Robinson or Gilgore had tested positive for the virus, and if they keep their guard up, remain eligible to play in Sunday’s game.
