KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Mike Matheny’s club is struggling with runners in scoring position.

The Royals stranded 12 men Saturday versus the White Sox, falling 11-5. Kansas City converted only four of 13 opportunities with runners in scoring position, allowing 21 hits to Chicago.

Starting pitcher Ronald Bolaños struggled controlling pitches early, giving up five earned runs in just 1.2 innings.

Kansas City, losers of four of their last five, still searches for a win in Kauffman Stadium in 2020.

Jakob Junis is scheduled to start the series finale Sunday at 1:05 p.m.
