KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Royals began the second and final day of the 2020 MLB Draft by taking high school pitcher Ben Hernandez, a right-handed pitcher from De La Salle Institute in Chicago.

The 6-foot-2 and 205-pound hurler has a fastball, which has topped out at 93 mph and many believe Hernandez has the best changeup of any high school pitcher in this year's draft.

He has verbally committed to play at Illinois-Chicago, but is now in line for a $1.81-million signing day based on MLB's slot value at the No. 41 overall pick.
