MISSION, Kan. — As first pitch approaches, Kansas Sampler/Rally House has been busy with sales on Royals gear.
"We're always excited about Royals' Opening Day, I mean it's Royals!" Rally House Mission Store Manager Jennifer Keffer said. "We're pretty excited about the new gear we have coming in and we also get new jerseys every year. We also have jerseys you can put your own name on."
Keffer said the most popular items are the crew neck sweatshirts, the quarter-zip pullovers and of course, the jerseys.
"We sell a lot of Gordon, Merrifield, Duffy — those are going to be jerseys that people are going to come in and get. And then we're just going to see who the standout star is, and then we'll see more jerseys and those players' names as well," Keffer said. "Our most popular jersey is always Perez. I'll be real honest with you, even though he's not going to be playing this year, we're going to be pulling for him and we're still going to sell a lot of Perez jerseys, just because he's the soul of the team. People love him, and so we're still gonna have people come in and they're going to buy them out."
Keffer they said they hope to stay busy throughout the Royals season.
"It's going to depend on how they play, but it's been really exciting with spring training. I've watched a couple of the games and we've got some really good new guys so we'll see what happens," Keffer said.
When it comes to Royals fans, the loyalty runs deep.
"Royals fans are those fans that have been fans forever. They're not those 'fly-by-the-seat-of-their-pants' kind of guys, they've been there through the drought. They know that it was 30 years in between the world series wins and they know it may be up and down and that's okay," Keffer said. "They're perennial fans, they come in here, they get new gear every year and so if you want to be out there in the freshest, newest stuff, now's the time."
