KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Allen Fieldhouse will transform into “The Dogg Pound” on the evening of Oct. 4 during the 35th annual "Late Night in the Phog."
The University of Kansas announced Friday that Grammy-nominated rapper Snoop Dogg will perform during the annual season tipoff event for Jayhawks men’s and women’s basketball.
Snoop Dogg, whose legal name is Calvin Broadus Jr., has been nominated for 17 Grammy awards in an entertainment career that spans more than three decades.
The day’s festivities begin with “Phog Fest” from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the lawn east of Allen Fieldhouse.
The Booth Family Hall of Athletics and DeBruce Center will close in the early afternoon in preparation for “Late Night in the Phog,” which starts at 6:30 p.m.
Students can enter the arena at 4:30 p.m., and doors open for the general public at 5 p.m.
Embattled KU men’s basketball coach Bill Self made an appearance in the hype video, which was released on the KU Athletics official Twitter account Friday.

Self is at the center of a scathing NCAA Notice of Allegations sent Monday to KU, which details evidence of recruiting violations and other infractions by members of the athletics department.
Many of the accusations came to light as part of a federal probe into wire fraud and corruption involving Adidas and high-profile basketball recruits.
Self has denied any wrongdoing and vowed to fight the allegations. KU also pushed backagainst the allegations.
