MIAMI — Tens of thousands of fans are coming to Miami for Super Bowl LIV, but not all of them have plans to go to the game.

Jim and Roger Godwin said coming to celebrate with other Chiefs fans was reason enough to make the trip.

"On social media, we see that there are thousands of fans that are here that are not going to the game," Jim said.

Other Kansas City fans are still hoping to get in the game and see the Chiefs play in their first Super Bowl in five decades.

Christopher Selentino said he's had season tickets since the 1970s and remembers watching games at Municipal Stadium. He booked his trip to Miami with his son, Elio, while they were sitting at Arrowhead Stadium during the AFC Championship Game win against the Tennessee TItans.

"As soon as Mahomes let go of the (60-yard touchdown) pass (to Sammy Watkins), I logged on my phone — Southwest Airlines, used my points, booked flights, here we are," he said.

But as far as tickets to the game, they were still looking for two as of Friday night.

We caught Carla Bingham at Kansas City International Airport, where she said she and her husband booked their trip to the Super Bowl in August. As of Tuesday, they also were still working on getting tickets.

Why wait? "Because they're so expensive," she laughed.

Even without tickets, free events like Super Bowl Live at Bayfront Park, lets fans be a part of the atmosphere.

The fans behind the Chiefs Lot J Tailgaters are expecting thousands of Chiefs fans at their party Saturday night in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, where fans will not have to pay to get in.
