Southeastern Conference basketball league play to begin in late December

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — League play for Southeastern Conference basketball will officially begin on Dec. 29, the conference announced Friday morning.

Woman's basketball league play will begin on Dec. 31

The 2020-21 SEC men's basketball conference will feature 20 play dates which will accommodate an 18-game schedule with two open dates.

The two open dates are meant to make room for the SEC and Big 12 Challenge in late January which will feature 10 SEC teams. The other four teams not participating in the challenge will play league games during the challenge.

Women's basketball will have 18 play dates which will fit a 16-game league schedule.

The start date for non-conference games is on Nov. 25 and teams can begin preseason practice on Wednesday, Oct. 14.

Mizzou has not released an official schedule for the men's and women's basketball team.
