KANSAS CITY, Kan. — Sporting Kansas City is riding a wave of success so far this season. 4-1-1 is good enough for first place.

This week the club returns home to face Seattle and the buzz surrounding Sporting centers around goalkeeper Tim Melia's 10 saves against the LA Galaxy. That's a team record.

"I think that was a really good thing for us to get a shutout at that place." said Sporting manager Peter Vermes. "Especially when (Zlatan) Ibrahimovic came in. He's a force going forward, and I think the guys handled it well."

While Melia is getting a lot of credit for the 2-NIL shutout, it was a complete team effort.

"If those are the types of shots I'm going to get in the game as a goalkeeper, I'm very happy, " said Melia. "That was only down to our defensive organization."
