KANSAS CITY, Mo. — This season has been one to remember for Kansas City Chiefs' tight end Travis Kelce.

Sunday, Kelce could break the current single-season NFL record for most yards by a tight end.

The record is currently held by San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle. In 2018, Kelce set the record which was quickly broken by Kittle that same season. Kittle recorded 1,377 receiving yards.

Kelce is 128 yards away from regaining the title.

While it's not out of sight, it is out of mind according to teammate Patrick Mahomes.

“We never talk about it, I mean, I don’t know if that’s baseball superstitions or whatever," Mahomes said.

"I see it on Twitter and stuff like that but I try to stay away from all that. We just focus on going out there and winning football games and it works out how it works out," he said.

"Some days it’s Tyreek, some days it’s Travis sometimes its Sammy," Mahomes said. "We got guys everywhere and we just go out there and try to execute and whoever is open is open."

Head coach Andy Reid was asked Wednesday if he has anyone on staff to remind him of things such as records. Reid said he does not and called himself "naive."

"Coming out of this game it seemed like there were a couple of different things that were going on and I really wasn’t aware of it," Reid said. "I’m kind of naïve to those things, and he doesn’t ever say anything."

"I think he just wants to play—keep playing and do good and all that stuff," Reid said. "Listen, I don’t even know how to answer that because I don’t know the numbers right now and how far away he is. If he needs one throw, he’s probably going to get that, so that’s a plus."
