The NFL Draft was slated to be in Las Vegas this evening, ushering in a new era of football in the Sin City in front of thousands of fans.

The coronavirus changed those plans.

League executives, team coaching and scouting staffs, players and broadcasters are participating in this week’s NFL Draft remotely.

The first round of the seven-round draft got underway Thursday evening, with LSU’s Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Joe Burrow being selected as the first overall pick by the Cincinnati Bengals.

Burrow is coming off an incredible season that concluded for a national title.

The 23-year-old quarterback returns to his home state after going to high school in Athens, Ohio, and graduating from Ohio State. After competing with now Washington Redskins QB Dwayne Haskins for playing time, Burrow opted to transfer to LSU for his final two years.

Burrow's former teammates at Ohio State, defensive end Chase Young, and cornerback Jeff Okudah were picked second and third respectively.

The second and third rounds of the draft will be held Friday. The draft concludes on Saturday.
