KANSAS CITY, Mo. — There's no overthinking it. Chiefs fans' biggest play of Sammy Watkins' career is also Sammy Watkins' biggest play of Sammy Watkins' career.

"Number one. Just to do it on the stage and the timing of that game," Watkins said.

The agreed-upon play came with 3:44 left in the fourth quarter of Super Bowl LIV. Patrick Mahomes lofted the ball over the top of the defense to a waiting Watkins, who had put a move on Richard Sherman. The 38-yard completion took the Chiefs from midfield to the 49ers' 10.

"To do it on one of, arguably, the top 10 corners, a Hall of Famer (Sherman)," Watkins said. "It's definitely one in the memory bank."

Kansas City would take the lead for good three plays later.

"My family, friends, fans, they always remind me that was one of the biggest plays of the game so I can always take that with me," Watkins said.

It was an individual moment for Watkins, who has learned that in the Chiefs' offense, you often have to wait your turn for plays like that.

"You've got to be realistic with yourself and say that we have, arguably, seven superstars on one offense," Watkins said. "I think it's hard on the coaches. It's not hard on me."

The sharing of the football led to speculation that Watkins would not return to the Chiefs in 2020. However, the wide receiver restructured his deal and is part of the "Run it Back" tour.

"Why wouldn't I come back to one of the best organizations, the best teams?" Watkins said. "Of course, we just won a Super Bowl."

Watkins' contract is more incentive-laden than it is guaranteed. And he's just fine with that.

"I think I've made enough money. I mean, I love more money," Watkins chuckled. "But as far as being smart and educated on this team and knowing that you've got to pay Pat (Mahomes). You've got to pay Chris (Jones)."
