Hundreds of people attended Monday's Friends of Special People annual Christmas party at KC’s Muehlbach Hotel.
Each year students from more than 50 local schools and institutions attend the event. Nearly 1,200 children and adults with developmental disabilities were in attendance.
"It's absolutely wonderful to see everyone come out and to see how excited the kids are," said volunteer Frances Brocato.
The party included everything from candy, games and stuffed animals to some well known Kansas City mascots.
Volunteers and donations from local businesses make this event possible.
