Johnson County Development Supports helps adults with physical and developmental disabilities lead independent lives.
And on this day, they're helping their clients register to vote. After all, the policies the next president will make concerning funding, access and opportunities directly impacts this specific community that often gets overlooked.
"They are part of the community just like anyone else," said Jody Hanson with JCDS. "They want to have their voice heard, they want to interact with the public."
If you are 18 or older and a U.S. citizen, you can vote, even if you have physical or developmental disabilities. Contact your county board of elections for details on how to get assistance if you need it.
The deadline to register to vote on Nov. 8 in Missouri is Oct. 12; in Kansas, it is Oct. 18.
