Some neighbors learned Thursday morning that Southwest Early College Campus in Brookside is one of three schools closing in the Kansas City Public School District. Currently, enrollment at Southwest High is down as well as graduation rates from previous years.
Wendell Phillips Elementary and Satchel Paige Elementary near 75th Street and US 71 are also closing.
School boundaries will be changing, which will impact about 15 percent of the district's 14,000 students. The plan has been in the works for nearly two years.
