Pokemon Go craze hits Johnson County Community College

Because players have to wander around, Johnson County Community College said both students and the public are learning more about the school - like that it has an art gallery on site.

JCCC capitalized on the game's popularity with an organized tour of the campus.

Gamers used Pokemon Go to poke around the JCCC campus. It all added up to major wins for the players - there are at least 20 Poke Stops and three gyms on site.

"Everybody who is coming together as part of this game - the stories we are hearing where they are meeting new people and they are meeting new people and they are experiencing new places," said the school's student life director and Pokemon Go tour organizer, Mindy Kinnaman. "Having them all come together in a positive way is fun. If it benefits the students or the community because they get to know one another, or it benefits people because they are coming in and learning about this college and what we have to offer."
