MoDOT is working to repair 15 bridgesalong Interstate 470 in the next year and a half.

Work will begin Monday, at 9 a.m. Crews will be closing down the right lane of westbound Interstate 470 starting at Cedar Creek and going towards the Little Blue River for shoulder work.

Once they complete the westbound lanes they'll work on the eastbound lanes in the same area. Then crews will follow that same pattern to work on the inside shoulder of the roadway, closing the left lane of traffic.

The first three bridges MoDOT will be working on are Little Blue River Bridge, View High Drive Bridge and Cedar Creek Rail Road Bridge. They'll begin work on them after Labor Day.

"We're going to build a cross over for traffic to switch over onto one side," said Jacob Wilson, Assistant Resident Engineer with MoDOT. "Both directions of traffic are going to be in two lanes on one side of the interstate and we're going to knock out all three of those bridges all at once scheduled for 60 days."

MoDOT said expect travel delays through the area during high peak traffic volume times.

The complete list of bridges scheduled for work include:

  • KC Southern RR under the WB entrance ramp from Blue Ridge Blvd
  • KS Southern RR under I-470
  • Blue Ridge Blvd  under I-470
  • James A Reed Rd under I-470
  • Little Blue River under I-470
  • View High Drive under I-470
  • Cedar Creek under I-470
  • Bowlin Rd under NB I-470
  • Lakewood Blvd under SB I-470

  • US 40 under NB I-470
  • US 40 under SB I-470

This project, which includes rehabilitation for 15 bridges and shoring up the shoulder along Interstate 470, is scheduled to be finished November 2018.
