1. The cold air will continue to pour in today with wind chills between 10° and 15°. The coldest temperatures of the weekend will be Sunday morning with lows in the single digits and wind chills around 0.
2. The average high is 38° and the average low is 20°, so yes this is below average, but we are long overdue for this cold.
3. The coldest temperature in Kansas City ever recorded was -23° in December 1989, so it can be much worse.
4. This very cold air will exit Monday with a second shot of cold Tuesday.
5. The next 2 weeks we will see these cold shots and mostly below average temperatures. We expect the milder part of the pattern to return at the end of this month and last into February.
