1. Should I cancel my Saturday evening plans?
You can do what you want, but any snow before 9-10 PM will be scattered and light with some freezing drizzle southeast of KC. So, this means there is the chance of slick spots on untreated surfaces, but there is a ton of salt out there. There is no need to cancel plans just use caution and take it slow.
2. Will it be hard to get around Sunday morning?
We are expecting a dusting to 1" of snow. Temperatures will be 10°-15° so the snow will stick to all surfaces, but with most locations seeing under 1" of snow and most of the snow being over by 5-7 AM, crews will have a chance to work on most roads. So, yes it will be slick in many locations, but conditions will improve each hour that goes by Sunday morning.
3. Will there be church closings?
There may be a few, especially in outlying areas to the north and southeast. Locations to the southeast of KC (mostly Pleasanton, KS to Harrisonville, MO south and east) may see more freezing drizzle which can really cause issues and locations to the north of KC (mainly north of highway 36) will see a bit more snow. The KC area may have a few closings, but accumulations will likely stay under 1" with little to no freezing drizzle.
4. How does it look Monday morning?
It will be frigid with temperatures 5°-10° and wind chill values as low as -10°. So bundle yourself and the kids up as you head out the door. The sky will be clear and the roads will be in good shape with perhaps a left over slick spot.
5. When will it warm up?
We are in for a huge warming trend this week with temperatures around 50° Tuesday and in the 50s for Valentine's day.
